India’s Ministry of Railways has officially unveiled the design model of the country’s first bullet train project connecting Mumbai and Ahmedabad. The futuristic train, designed with an aircraft-like appearance, has created significant excitement among netizens and railway enthusiasts across the country.
The high-speed rail corridor, stretching approximately 508 kilometers, will connect Maharashtra, Gujarat, and Dadra and Nagar Haveli. A total of 12 stations, including Mumbai, Surat, Vadodara, Ahmedabad, and Sabarmati, are planned along the route.
Officials confirmed that 1389.5 hectares of land required for the ambitious project have already been fully acquired. Infrastructure work for eight stations in Gujarat has been completed. Meanwhile, construction of the 4.8-kilometer undersea tunnel between Kansoli and Shilphata is progressing rapidly.
In addition, work on 17 river bridges has reached the final phase. The project is being developed using Japan’s advanced Shinkansen technology, enabling trains to operate at speeds of up to 320 kmph. Once operational, the travel time between Mumbai and Ahmedabad is expected to reduce drastically.
The bullet train project is considered one of India’s most prestigious infrastructure initiatives and is expected to transform the future of railway transportation in the country.
