Strait of Hormuz Attacks Escalate: Three Cargo Ships Targeted Amid US–Iran Ceasefire Tensions

Tensions have escalated once again in the Strait of Hormuz after multiple cargo ships were reportedly attacked. According to international reports, at least three vessels came under fire on Wednesday, raising concerns over maritime security in one of the world’s busiest oil transit routes.
Among the targeted vessels was the MSC Francesca, which was attacked approximately six nautical miles off the Iranian coast while sailing south toward the Gulf of Oman. Another cargo ship reported being fired upon and was forced to halt in the water, although no major damage was reported.
Reports suggest that Iran’s paramilitary Revolutionary Guard may have been involved in these attacks, further complicating the already tense geopolitical situation. The incidents have created additional hurdles for diplomatic efforts aimed at ending the conflict between the United States and Iran.
Meanwhile, Donald Trump stated that the United States is willing to extend the ceasefire with Iran until Tehran submits a proposal and peace talks are concluded. However, Iran has maintained that it will not engage in negotiations under pressure or while facing a US naval blockade.
These developments have raised global concerns, particularly regarding the safety of commercial shipping routes and the stability of international oil supply chains.
